In September 2013 Larry Mueller of RE/MAX Star Properties in Belmont approached the Spicy Spirit team about redesigning his website.
LarryMueller.com’s old homepage
Spicy Spirit met with Larry and his licensed assistant, Carol, to discuss LarryMueller.com and their desire to transform the website into an important sales tool. We learned that Larry planned on mailing new flyers to prospective clients in the next few weeks. They wanted to lead interested property buyers and sellers to a modern and easy-to-navigate site. Larry was not happy with his website because he felt it was so outdated, and he was ready to build a brand new one.
After the meeting we ran a diagnosis on the site and spoke to PropertyMinder, Larry’s current website hosting company that also provides LarryMueller.com’s content management system. After reviewing the website’s pages, researching other real estate agents’ websites and considering Larry’s marketing needs, we decided we didn’t have to build a new website from scratch because PropertyMinder offers many features Larry had never used. We could just update his website’s template and content while staying with PropertyMinder. Then Larry wouldn’t have to pay for a brand-new site and push back his own timetable for sending his flyers.
One of our main objectives was to make the website more streamlined. As you can see in the photo above, Larry’s old website had too many pages listed in its left navigational bar. We met with Larry and Carol to discuss which pages were most important and decided to disable 12 pages. For the remaining pages, the highest priority ones would be listed in the top navigational bar, and the secondary ones would be listed in the right navigational bar. The right navigational bar would only be seen in the pages, not the home page.
We wanted the home page to feature only the most essential, eye-catching content, like photos of Larry’s properties.

But we didn’t just take out pages. Larry wanted to highlight his services in Central Valley, so we revamped his Fresno page. Originally it led to Wikipedia’s page on the city, which didn’t complement the rest of the website. So we added a beautiful and scenic photo of Fresno as well as copy promoting Larry’s services in the area.

We also recreated the websites’ About, Services, Pocket Listings and Schools pages with original copywriting. Furthermore, in order to highlight Larry’s high volume of successful transactions in recent years, we created three new pages. He sent spreadsheets of his sales, we took out the unnecessary columns and posted them in the Recent Sales sections.

We presented the website to Larry and Carol, and they are both extremely satisfied with their cleaner, but more content-rich, website. Larry sent it to clients right away. They are certain it will help build an immediate trust between Larry and his prospective clients.
